Love? Again? Let's give it another try!

Love doesn’t have to be a constant yearning
a turbulent, churning, a tossing and turning
Love can be peaceful and calm
And even empty at times
It can be the wind that releases the leaves
it can be the breath that lets you be
it can be the knowing underneath the unknowing
the remembering underneath the forgetting
the hope underneath the fear.
Love doesn’t have to be constant passion
the sex-crazed frenzied lust that’s in fashion
although there’s nothing wrong with being in style
once in a while.
But what is love really?
I think love is a feeling, but more--
it’s the deep knowing that the person you chose
out of every flower in the garden,
is your own personal rose
who loves the gardener
more than she will ever know.
Love doesn’t have to be constantly present
in the forefront of your mind
But love is that understanding
that in your heart you will never leave him behind
no matter how far you may physically go.
When you are truly in Love,
deep down you will always know
that there is someone
waiting for you and cheering you on,
who loves you more than you can ever know.
